See what’s going on with Winthrop sports and their starting games for the spring season.

The spring sports season has once again started here at Winthrop. Some Winthrop sports teams such as the men’s and women’s basketball are continuing their seasons from the previous fall semester.
The men’s basketball team has recently been on a dominating seven game win streak. Their most recent win was an away game against Presbyterian College where they won 82-72. The win over Presbyterian now puts their record at 15-8.
The men’s basketball team’s next game will be a rematch between UNC Asheville on Jan. 31 at the Winthrop Coliseum. This game will take place at 2:00 pm.
The women’s basketball team has struggled some in the last few games they competed in. They fell to High Point University in an away game 60-74 on Jan 21. This game makes it their third loss in a row and puts their record at 10-11.
The women’s basketball team’s next game will be away against Radford on Jan. 31. This game will start at 2:00 pm.
The baseball team will make their season debut on Feb. 13. They will be playing their first match against Georgetown at the Founders Field at 3:00 pm.
The softball team will start their season at the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, South Carolina on Feb. 6. Their first game will be against Virginia Tech at 5:30 pm.
The men’s golf team will begin their spring season at the Lake Jovita Invitational in Lake Jovita, Florida on Feb. 9. The women’s golf team will instead begin their season at the Oyster Shuck Match Play in Charleston, South Carolina on Feb. 9.
The lacrosse team will open with a scrimmage against Elon on Jan. 31 at the Eagle field. This game will start at 12:00 pm. Their first official match will be on Feb. 14 against Kennesaw State at the Eagle field. This game will start at 11:00 a.m.
The track team will make their back to Tryon, North Carolina at the Tryon College Banked Invitational on Jan. 30.
