A valentine for the staff of The Johnsonian

Let’s face it; I cannot do the job of editor-in-chief alone. It would be impossible. The staff of The Johnsonian make my job so much easier.

They are absolutely wonderful and I could not do this job without them. They are so creative, dependable, kind decent human beings who I am lucky to have as both colleagues and friends. So here is a valentine for each of them.

To Mari: Thank you for being my right-hand person who I can always depend on to get things done on-time and correctly. Thank you for also always being willing to help whenever possible.

To Ainsley: Thank you for being my other right-hand person. Your writing skills are phenomenal and I know I can always count on you to help, especially with copyediting, and to always do it with a wonderful sense of humor.

To Zoe: I have seen you grow so much as a writer this year and I am so proud of you and you always strive to be better.

To Maliik: You have come such a long way since joining the paper last semester. I am so proud of how you are always willing to learn new things and to lend a hand when needed.

To Autumn: You were one of the first people I got to know when I joined the paper last year and you always have a smile on your face. Your sense of humor is also fantastic.

To Sera: Thank you first of all for selling ads to help with our budget. But thank you for also offering your ideas and to help when needed.

To Mariana: You are always so so bubbly and you light up a room with your positive energy. You are also always willing to lend a hand if asked which is very appreciated.

To Lily: You are an absolutely fantastic photographer and I look forward to seeing your photo stories each week. You are such a kind-hearted person and make everyone that knows you just a little bit happier.

To Ariannah: Your writing is fantastic and your ideas are always so creative.
To James: I have loved seeing your graphic work so far. It is amazing.

To David: Your writing has improved so much and I always look forward to seeing what political issue you choose to report on. You are dependable and it has been so much fun working with you this year.

To Jeremiah: Thank you for always putting 100% effort into your stories and for always being willing to learn or try something new.

To Jada: You are one of the sweetest people I know and I have loved being on staff with you since I started.

To Sam: Even though we can’t pay you, thank you for always being willing to help with stories in whatever way possible and for always putting 100% into your stories and are willing to learn.

To Dasia: You are one of the most bubbly people I know and are always willing to teach and help others.

To Gabe: Thank you for being my “humbler” and for always being ready with a hug or high-five. Your social media ideas are so creative and I love seeing the final product.

To The Johnsonian spring 2023 staff, I hope you know how much I appreciate and value each and every one of you. This paper could not function without y’all and I am oh so grateful for all of the encouragement, creativity, and friendship from everyone.

Happy Valentine’s Day TJ staff! Y’all deserve all of the newspaper love.
