- “Goosebumps” (2015)-This remake of the classic “Goosebumps” stories written by R.L. Stine, stars Jack Black, playing Stine himself. The movie follows a teen boy, Zach, who meets Hannah, who happens to be the daughter of R.L. Stine. Zach accidentally unleashes all the monsters from Stine’s books and the trio teams up to defeat the monsters. With a combination of spooks and plenty of cheesiness, plus the nostalgia of favorite books from your childhood, this is the perfect movie to watch with friends.
- “Hotel Transylvania” (2012)-The story follows Dracula who is trying to throw a birthday party for his daughter Mavis. His plans have to change when a human boy wanders into the monsters-only hotel and crashes Mavis’s party. Dracula tries everything to keep the human boy away from Mavis, but the two end up falling in love anyway. “Hotel Transylvania” incorporates round-about humor and cheesy lines with funny spins on classic monsters we all know and love.
- “Coraline” (2009) –Coraline explores her new home and finds a secret doorway that leads to an alternate world of her own reality. This world is better than her own until the Other Mother wants to keep Coraline there forever. This stop–motion film is marketed to be family-friendly, but is appealing to all audiences for the thrills and deep heartfelt lessons. This thriller movie will definitely keep you on your toes.
- “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (1993)-The best not-Halloween, not-Christmas movie ever. Jack Skellington, the supreme ruler of all things scary, gets bored with the same old, same old and decides to explore outside his realm of Halloween. He stumbles upon Christmas and is fascinated, declaring that he wants to become Santa Claus. But his plan may cause things to go terribly wrong. Another fun stop-motion film produced by the spooky king, Tim Burton. Watching “The Nightmare Before Christmas” creates a fun-filled night of spooky skeletons.
- “Casper” (1995)-A friendly ghost with some troublesome uncles, Casper befriends the daughter of the specialist that comes to study the haunted mansion Casper resides in. With Casper’s budding friendship, his uncles are determined to cause as much trouble as possible. Casper is a lovable ghost who wants to cause no harm, making him an iconic character that everyone should know and love.
- “Halloweentown” (1998)-A classic Disney channel movie featuring a girl named Marnie, who finds out after following her grandmother to her home, that she comes from a line of witches. After her discovery, she wants to become a witch herself and has to join her family in a fight against evil. This movie is fun from start to finish and encapsulates the spooky Halloween vibes everyone looks for this time of year.
- “Monster House” (2006)-“Monster House” follows the story of three kids who discover the tragic history of a haunted house. The kids must find a way to put an end to the house before it does the same to them. This horrifying tale has a sad ending that will stick with you for a long time. “Monster House” is a high adrenaline spooky film that features more creepiness and scares than laughter and fun.
