Reckless Driver leads chase from Rockhill to Chester County.
A Rockhill man was arrested Sept 3 after leading a Reporting Officer (R/O) on a 30-mile pursuit.
According to the R/O, the black Volkswagen was traveling on Constitution Blvd when he noticed the driver failed to use the turning signal onto Cherry Rd. The R/O proceeded to follow the vehicle and run the tag plate which detected the owner of the vehicle as a wanted person. The R/O immediately communicated the whereabouts to dispatch.
Continuing to follow the vehicle, the R/O noticed the driver failed to use his turning signal twice and immediately initiated his blue lights for a traffic stop, however the driver continued northbound on Cherry Rd without stopping. Once the vehicle approached a red traffic light on the intersection of Cherry Rd and Ebinport Rd, the R/O exits his vehicle and draws his firearm ordering the driver to turn his vehicle off.
According to a Rockhill police officer who was also on the scene, the driver, identified as Mario Douglas, failed to comply turning off his engine and exiting the vehicle. As officers attempted to arrest Douglas, he quickly reverses his vehicle and crashes into a patrol car, before recklessly driving away.
Throughout the course of the pursuit, the driver proceeds to travel on Main St and enters onto I-77 southbound speeding over 100 mph until he discontinues his pursuit on exit 55 in Chester County.
The suspect was shortly arrested and escorted into custody to Rock Law Center and was issued warrants for failure to stop for a blue light and reckless driving and improper signal.
Water Pellet Gun shooting in Dalton Parking
Two individuals witnessed a passenger in a vehicle shooting water pellets in the Dalton parking lot on Winthrop University campus around 11:53 p.m. on Sept 5.
According to Reporting officer (R/O), the red Sedan was discovered in Founders parking lot and was shortly stopped in Dalton parking lot. Upon approaching the vehicle, the R/O discovered four male passengers in the vehicle identified as Mysta Lewis, Kenyon Brown, Germarion Anthony and Anthony Pearson Jr.
While in contact with all four passengers, the R/O notifies them of trespassing and explains the process of trespassing. The R/O also confiscated a water pellet gun, and the scene was cleared without incident.
Charges upheld on suspect found with drugs in Dalton parking lot
A suspect was arrested after marijuana was found inside his vehicle during a routine property check of the Dalton Hall parking lot located on Winthrop University campus on Sept. 8.
According to the Reporting Officer (R/O), while conducting a property check of the parking lot, there was a noticeable smell of marijuana. To identify the source of the smell, the R/O began shining a light into vehicles and observed a male subject sitting in a vehicle with the engine running and the lights off.
The suspect, later identified as a Winthrop affiliate, was instructed by the R/O to step out of the vehicle to perform a teary search and probable cause search. During the search, the R/O spotted a small gray bag in the vehicle’s front passenger seat that he noticed the suspect was attempting to reach for multiple times.
According to the R/O, located in the small gray bag was a clear plastic bag containing 53.1 grams of marijuana, a black plastic bag containing 29.9 grams of marijuana and a glass jar containing 3.1 grams of marijuana.
Further into the vehicle search, the R/O also located a rolling tray, grinder, and a scale covered in marijuana residue. The suspect was later taken to Rock Hill Police Department and was issued warrants for a possession with intent to distribute (PWID) for marijuana and PWID for proximity to a school.
