“Salt Morning” – Laura Munson

She’s got salt hair

No socks, no contacts

They’re half asleep but woke up to kisses

From a scruffy old terrier

Mimosas in one hand

Coffee in the other

Laughter dances in from the kitchen

Salt and stench in the

Charleston air

Moss on the trees

Bugs on the windows

Sand in the sheets

Years of each other on their minds

“books on main – Madison Yarborough

do you remember that summer day we walked into the bookstore across from our coffee shop?

coffee and tea in hand,

we went in to escape the heat

we were giggling so much with each other, the owner kept asking if we needed anything

all we wanted was to steal kisses,

in between the shelves

there are so many old books in that shop

we were so focused on each other,

we didn’t realize in that moment–

we were creating a book,

one day to be placed on one of those shelves

to be knocked down by two lovers stealing kisses

one of them will laugh and say,

“no, no wait. read this.”

they will be writing their own story,

while stumbling across ours

everything is yellow
