With fall sports getting amped up, Winthrop Athletics recently got a new mobile app. The app is called Winthrop Athletics and it definitely is a needed app that you don’t want to fail to download.
“We are always searching for new and creative methods to reach our student body and provide opportunities to engage with athletics as part of their college experience,” Emily Erickson, Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement for Winthrop Athletics, said.
The new app is the ultimate tool in keeping up with the different Winthrop sports teams. The app was created in hopes to increase both student and other fan attendance at games. The app’s features make it a breeze to stay connected and updated with Winthrop Athletics despite their facilities not being within the main part of campus.
The Winthrop Athletics app is filled with features such as game schedules, tickets for purchase, live scores, new alerts, student athletes and coach profiles, interactive facility maps, a merchandise store, social media feed, and direct promotional content to the user.
“I think it is an easy and effective way to inform fans about events,” Jordan Causey, a junior sports management major, said.
Upon downloading the app, it asks for your student email in order that you may reap the benefits of student rewards. It then asks you to select which Winthrop teams you would like to follow or get notifications and alerts for. Once you confirm your email, the app will then allow you to explore its many features.
The game schedules alert you of when and where the Winthrop teams will be playing. Users can also see facts and stats about their favorite players/coaches within the app using the student athletes and coaches profiles and see the Winthrop social media posts through the app’s feed.
Can’t find one of the facilities or not sure how to get there? The app has you covered with interactive facility maps. Can’t make a game? That’s ok. With the app you’ll also get new alerts and live score updates for all of your selected teams.
The app also has our radio live stream and it has the option to watch the games from the ESPN+ platform so if you can’t be there in person you can always be there in spirit. Tickets as well as merchandise are available for purchase through the app as well.
An amazing feature just for Winthrop students is the student rewards tab. Within this tab, whenever students go to games, once they check-in, they can redeem student points. In the collection of these points, students can eventually redeem them for prizes.
Yes that’s right. You can attend multiple games and receive student rewards by checking in to let Winthrop Athletics know you were there.
In order to check-in and collect points, you must be present at the game you’re checking into. You have to let the app access your location to be able to access check–in options.
Once you’ve got the Winthrop Athletics app downloaded and you’ve made your account, have fun exploring the many different features that the app has to offer. You might even find a fun surprise.
