The evolution of feminism and women’s rights through today’s most successful women
Feminism has seen much controversy throughout the years, and society has both criticized and praised many women for bringing these issues to the forefront of the media. Feminism and equal rights for women around the world have undeniably evolved, and the feminist movement has gained much popularity over the past few years.
The women in charge of bringing these issues to the table are making it possible for women to stand up around the world and share their stories for why they believe in feminism. Many of the women empowering others are not only changing women but the world as well.
Some of these women can be found in Hollywood while others come from small countries and use their experiences to make their voices heard.
According to TIME Magazine, some of the most inspiring women changing the modern world are Oprah Winfrey, Nancy Pelosi, Loretta Lynch, Gabby Douglas, Ellen DeGeneres and many more.
These women, along with many others around the world, have changed the world and their respective career fields so that future generations will not have to struggle as they did. Many of these women are the first to achieve major accomplishments and paved the way for many more girls and women to reach their goals.
Malala Yousafzai began advocating for equal rights at a young age and has a book describing her experiences with sexism in her home country of Pakistan where she was shot by members of the Taliban advocating for education on a school bus. She used her experiences to inform people of the issues women face around the world and made headlines with her story.
“In the future women, rather than men, will be the ones to change the world,” Yousafzai said .
She’s not the only woman changing the world’s viewpoints on women and their voices. Ellen DeGeneres is now known for her award-winning talk show and her role as a comedian, but she was originally a pioneer for the LGBTQ community.
DeGeneres was the first person to ever star on prime-time television as an openly gay character. She opened the scene for production companies to reach new audiences and for the LGBTQ community to finally have a strong voice and presence in Hollywood. She shares her stories of discrimination and encourages people around the world to be true to themselves.
“Find out who you are and be that person,” DeGeneres said. “That’s what your soul was put on this earth to be. Find that truth, live that truth and everything else will come.”
DeGeneres uses her daily talk show to address issues across the country and around the world with comedy and kindness — she even ends every show with the quote, “Be kind to one another.”
These women are just a few examples of the millions of girls and women around the world standing up and changing the way we look at traditional gender roles. Every woman has a story to tell, and everyone has the chance to make their voices heard thanks to these
